Thursday Notes, Neuheisel Video

Rick Neuheisel

Head Coach Rick Neuheisel talked after practice Thursday, discussing the status of the injured, what he wants to see offensively Saturday against Houston, and Prince has another good practice...

Right tackle Micah Kia did not practice again because of an ankle injury, but Coach Rick Neuheisel said that he expected the senior to be able to play. The same goes for the other players who missed some time during the week – Ricky Marvray (back), Anthony Barr (back) and Christian Ramirez (hamstring).

Marvray went through the full practice and made a couple of nice plays, one coming back to a ball to make a catch.

Freshman running back Malcolm Jones did not get a lot of reps, but the Bruins have been giving more practice time to freshman Jordon James, to get him up to speed. James, who missed most of fall camp with a hamstring strain, has looked very good throughout the week working with the No. 1 and No. 2 offenses.

Safety Dalton Hilliard also had a good week. He had another pick working against the scout team, which brought his total for the week to … oh, about 10.

Receiver Jerry Johnson also continued to get a lot of reps. He could see more playing time this week, though receivers coach Reggie Moore said he didn't anticipate a lot of changes in the playing rotations. ‘'Rotationally, I'm trying to keep those guys fresh,'' Moore said, of the Bruins 1s and 2s. ‘'I wouldn't call it movement or anything that's drastically moving, but they know they have to compete and if you're not competing at the highest level, then somebody else is going to get an opportunity.''

Prince appeared to be as healthy as he has been since the start of fall camp. He made a very nice throw on a deep ball when rolling to his left to Taylor Embree.

With Kia out, Mike Harris continued to get the work at right tackle. Recommended Stories
