North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake quarterback Chad Kanoff (6-4, 205), had his first offer come from Vanderbilt earlier this spring.

On Monday, Kanoff gave the Commodores his commitment.

"I did commit to Vanderbilt," said Kanoff.

The three-star, who was offered by San Diego State earlier this month, is excited to be headed to the SEC to play football.

"It's a great school and it's in a big time conference," said Kanoff. "And it's in an awesome city."

Interestingly, Kanoff became the second Los Angeles quarterback to commit to an SEC school in the past week, and more remarkably, became the second quarterback from his league, the Mission League, to pick an SEC program.

Fellow Mission League quarterback Hayden Rettig, who plays at Los Angeles Cathedral, committed to LSU last week, and the two quarterbacks have worked out with quarterback guru Steve Clarkson together.

Now Kanoff will head to play for James Franklin and a Vanderbilt program that was in a bowl last fall.

"Coach Franklin was pretty stoked," said Kanoff. "I want to be a part of a major turn-around in college football.
