Regular Season Review: Oregon Football

Marcus Mariota

With the Oregon Ducks' 2012 regular season in the books, eDucks' Stephen Summers reviews the team's 10-1 performance.

1. With the regular season over, has Oregon met or failed expectations?

The Oregon Ducks expected to play in the BCS Championship game, but lost to Stanford in the next to last game of the season 17-14 in overtime. The Ducks will most likely play in the Fiesta Bowl, so while not the BCS Championship game, it is the fourth year in a row that Oregon plays in a BCS Bowl game.

2. What one player has made the difference this season?

Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota was the surprise of the year for Oregon. Mariota finished the regular season as the most efficient quarterback in the Pac-12 Conference.

3. What are the key improvements that need to be made before the bowl game?

There really are no improvements the Ducks need to make other than perhaps having the field goal kicker practice making field goals.

4. What has been the dominant headline of the regular season?

Oregon Demolishes (fill in the blank) Again.

5. If the recruiting class stays in-tact, what are your expectations for next season?

Oregon should again be considered one of the top-4 teams in the country.
