UCLA Notebook: Pac-12 Championship

  • Both UCLA and Stanford were perfect on red zone trips, converting seven-of-seven attempts from inside the red zone.

  • The first three possessions of the game ended in touchdowns. UCLA scored on its first two series, Stanford on its opening possession.

  • Johnathan Franklin rushed for 194 yards in the match up, breaking 115-yard rushing effort by LaMichael James in the 2011 Pac-12 Championship Game. Franklin's 51 yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the longest play from scrimmage in the two-year history of the conference championship game.

  • Franklin moved into first on the school career all-purpose yardage list after UCLA's first drive of the game, previously held by Maurice Jones-Drew, who had a total of 4,688 all-purpose yards (2003-2005).

  • Franklin also moved past Karim Abdul-Jabbar's mark of 1,571 single-season rushing yards (set in 1995) during UCLA's second drive of the game.

  • The game was Franklin's ninth 100-yard rushing game of the season, another school single-season record, which was previously shared by Abdul-Jabbar (1995), Gaston Green (1986), Freeman McNeil (1979 and 1980), and Wendell Tyler (1975). This was Franklin's 19th-career 100-yard rushing game, moving him to second place on UCLA's all-time list for most 100-yard rushing games in a career, just one behind Gaston Green's total of 20 (1984-1987).

  • Franklin also moved past Terrence Austin's single-season all-purpose mark of 1,878 set in 2008.

  • During the first half of the contest, redshirt quarterback Brett Hundley moved past Cade McNown's school single-season total offense mark of 3,652 (set in 1998).

  • Ka'imi Fairbairn kicked his ninth made field goal in a row from a distance of 35-yards or less with his 31-yard field goal in the third quarter,

  • The team set a new school record for first downs in a season. Had entered game tied with the old record of 292 set in 1988.

  • UCLA also established a new school record for total offense in a single-season during the second drive of the game. The old mark of 5,847 was set in 1998.

  • UCLA now leads Stanford in the series: 45-36-3
