Andrew Abbott after UCLA practice:

Q: for Fox Sports, I'm Annabel Stephan, out here at Spaulding Field, alongside UCLA defensive back, Andrew Abbott.

Andrew, when I spoke with you earlier in the season, a lot has happened in the past couple of months. Some more big wins. What's really been the highlight of your senior year?

AA: it has to be that USC win. More than that, it's just going out every day. Coming out with these guys. Practicing. Coming out on Saturday and playing. That's really been the highlight. Just enjoying it as a senior. Just enjoying these moments. I don't have too many more left. Just enjoying I guess time I get to spend with the guys. That's been the highlight.

Q: as a senior, how different has the season been than in years before?

AA: it's been big. Obviously, to go 9-4. Have the chance to get our tenth win. We haven't had that since I've been here. So it's been fun to go out this way. Obviously playing the Holiday Bowl against a top-notch team is going to be fun.

Q: one of the things that Coach Mora's has been talking about is that 24-hour rule that you guys had, win or lose. But when you get those big wins like versus Nebraska earlier in the season, versus USC, how do you get that off your head and go back to business?

AA: the next week is always a bigger game. Each game gets bigger as you win. As an older guy, you just have to really believe in that. The next game is even going to be bigger. And if you have a letdown, that game that you just played means nothing. So it's just been, I guess, the want to validate that win. And we've done a good job of that this year.

Q: in the secondary, a couple guys are graduating from it, have you been giving any words of advice to some of the younger guys to continue this winning tradition here?

AA: yeah, I just let them know that they have a special thing here. The feeling around this program and what UCLA has going right now. It's big. I wish I had more years. It's going to be fun. I just tell those guys to just enjoy it. Take in the moment because it's going to be gone. Like I said, just enjoy it.

Q: so with the 4 years that you have been here, to go out on top during your last year, how does that make you feel?

AA: it feels good. Obviously, I would've rather gone to the Rose Bowl but, I mean, it feels good to go out this way: winning record. We have the chance to get 10 wins. Not many teams here at UCLA has had that opportunity so it's big to be the senior class that can get UCLA to that tenth win. So it's going to be fun.

Q: you mentioned the Holiday Bowl, just around the corner, what are you most looking forward to with that game?

AA: just spending time with my guys. I cherish these moments. The football is fun and all that. But just being around these guys. I love my teammates so it's going to be fun.

Q: well, congratulations on a great season.
