Hollins enjoys visit to Utah

LB Deon Hollins

Missouri City (Texas) Marshall linebacker Deon Hollins is a long time commit to UCLA but took a visit to Utah over the weekend and said he had a great trip.

Deon Hollins was one of the standouts at the recent Semper Fidelis All-American game and really shined in the practices all week. He's an explosive pass rusher and has great closing speed coming off the edge.

"I really had a great time on my trip," Hollins said. "I would say just hanging out with the players on the team was the biggest highlight. They have a great group of guys there, there's a real good nucleus of high character guys and I felt like I bonded really well with everyone.

"I hung out with Tyler White, who went to my high school. Jacoby Hale was my host and he's a great guy too. We went snow mobiling and that was a lot of fun, I've never really been in snow like that before. The coaches were real with me and said they want to me in positions to do what I do best and that's get after the quarterback. I have a good relationship with Coach Scalley, he's my recruiter and just a real solid guy."

Hollins said he'll take a few more official visits but is definitely giving Utah a serious look.

"I'm going to UCLA for my official visit this weekend," Hollins said. "I'm pretty solid with UCLA and like them a lot. Things are looking pretty good with UCLA but I'm still going to give Utah a hard look. They impressed me a lot and Coach Scalley came in for a home visit last night and it went really.

"Coach Spanos from UCLA was in on Monday and that went well too. They're building a great defense and it would be fun to be a part of it. I don't have any other visit dates set up yet but I'm still talking with Notre Dame and Arizona State. I would like to take all my trips if I can, just for the experience and to have something to compare to UCLA but like I said, I don't have any concrete dates at the moment."
