Pre-Buzz of Recruiting Weekend

Priest Willis

We have plenty of inside information about the prospects visiting UCLA this weekend, like Priest Willis, Myles Jack and Patrick Enewally...

It's a big weekend for UCLA football recruiting, and we thought we'd get everyone "Jack'd" up for it by sharing some our inside info and educated speculation about what might happen.

Priest Willis, the five-star defensive back from Tempe (Ariz.) Marcos De Niza, had planned to visit UCLA officially this weekend for a while but kept it quiet, until this week. It's Willis' last official visit, he's thought to be favoring UCLA and has for some time, and there is some feeling around his recruitment that he could make a verbal commitment to UCLA public this weekend. If he does verbally commit, the thought is that his close friend, Tahaan Goodman, could also. Goodman postponed his visit to LSU to next weekend, and it's likely he'll be on UCLA's campus this weekend for an unofficial visit to hang our with Willis.

Myles Jack, the four-star linebacker prospect from Bellevue (Wash.), who has been committed to UCLA since last summer, will be on his third official visit, having already seen Utah and Arizona State. The word is that UCLA is still very solid with him, and the UCLA official visit this weekend will go a long way to making that even firmer. He still does plan to visit Washington next weekend and Florida State February 2nd. The Washington visit will be one for UCLA to endure. The good money is still bet on Jack signing with UCLA. Best case scenario is that he decides to not take his Washington and Florida State visits after this weekend, but we feel that's unlikely. We think he'll at least visit Washington. Head coaches can personally have one in-home visit with each prospect, and Mora, who is personally close with Jack (since Jack is friends with Mora's son, who attends Bellevue), still has his in-home available for after the Washington official visit.

Tyler Foreman, the four-star safety prospect from Encino (Calif.) Crespi, the one-time Wisconsin commit, is down to UCLA and Cal. Missouri hasn't officially been crossed of the list, but the fact that he has now opted to use his two last official visits on UCLA and Cal isn't a good sign for Missouri. Foreman just had an in-home visit this Wednesday from UCLA coaches Jim Mora, Demetrice Martin and Angus McClure, and it apparently really helped UCLA. The coach that recruited Foreman to Wisconsin, Andy Buh, is now the defensive coordinator at Cal, so there is some pull there. For a long time, too, there was some feeling from the Crespi camp that UCLA hadn't recruited Foreman enough, but Mora's presence at the in-home was huge. He'll visit Cal next week and then announce on Signing Day.

Johnny Johnson, the four-star cornerback from Fresno (Calif.) Central East, has UCLA leading heavily and it's pretty well-accepted that he'll be a Bruin, and more than likely commit this weekend.

Kylie Fitts, the four-star defensive end from Redlands East Valley, is taking his first official visit since de-committing from USC. UCLA coaches were in his house yesterday and it reportedly went very well. He'll have just two more official visits available, and he could visit Alabama, Notre Dame or Oregon. The feeling is that he wants to stay close to home and it will be a UCLA/USC battle for him. The plan is for him to announce on Signing Day.

Deon Hollins, the four-star linebacker prospect from Missouri City (Tex.) Marshall, has said he's firm to UCLA now in his commitment, but the word is that he may still visit Notre Dame. The plan for UCLA is to firm him up even more and hopefully end his recruitment this weekend.

Patrick Enewally, the three-star corner prospect from Cerritos Gahr, is still showing interest in UCLA, despite the thought that he's leaning to Washington. He's pretty tight with former UCLA commit and current Washington commit Jermaine Kelly, and there's some influence there. The word is that UCLA is making a bit of a comeback, and it's hoped that a strong official visit could turn the tide. The longer he takes to decide is probably better for the Bruins. He may announce as soon as January 27th, at the B2G Bowl.

UCLA-committed athlete Mossi Johnson from Los Angeles Crenshaw is visiting, and he's solid to the Bruins.

UCLA-committed offensive lineman Christian Morris, from Memphis (Tenn.) East, is taking an official visit this weekend to Mississippi. One of his high school teammates, actually, just verbally committed to Ole Miss. He visited hometown favorite Tennessee last week and now has said he's shutting down the media from his recruitment, which probably isn't a good sign for UCLA. If there's a committed OL to worry about sticking with the Bruins, Morris is the guy.

UCLA-committed linebacker Cameron Judge from Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian is visiting ASU this weekend. UCLA hadn't been in too much contact with Judge recently – until this week. It's thought that he could switch allegiances this weekend if he has a good visit with ASU.

Five-star defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes from Auburn (Calif.) Placer is taking an official visit to USC this weekend. The general feeling is that UCLA now leads for the one-time USC commit, but you can expect the Trojans to put on a show for Vanderdoes this weekend. Vanderdoes has said that he intended to swing by UCLA for an unofficial visit on the weekend of his USC official visit, so we'll see if that happens Sunday.
