MARKUS WHEATON TOOK full advantage of the opportunity to help himself in the NFL Draft. His combine numbers were impressive, to say the least,.
Markus Wheaton
ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash, 10th best among all receivers present and tops amongst Pac-12 receivers.
He also put up a surprising 20 reps with 225 pounds on the bar -- the most of any receiver in attendance.
Wheaton measured in at 5-11, 1189 pounds. His arm length was 32 3/4 inches, with a 9 1/8 inch measurement on his hands.
Wheaton's 20-yard shuttle was 4.02 seconds and 60-yard shuttle was 11.16 seconds. Both were also the best marks for receivers.
Wheaton's vertical jump was 37 inches, his broad jump was 120 inches and he did the 3-cone drill in 6.8 seconds. Of the seven drills Wheaton took part in on Sunday, he finished in the top 10 in six of them.

XTRA 910 reported that the Cardinals were talking with Wheaton after his impressive numbers. Denver was also said to be among those to be highly interested.
NFLDraft Scout projects Wheaton as a second round pick. Two months ago, he was projected as a fourth round pick or later. Some cyberspace gurus are now saying his combine performance has bumped him up to a late first round pick.
The NFL.com site grades him out at 81.8, putting him in the category (70-84) of an eventual starter and second to third round selection. A score of 85-95 puts a player in the "immediate starter" category and a first round pick.
