It's eerie how much Juju Smith (6'1/185) resembles Heisman Trophy candidate
Marqise Lee of USC at the same stage of their careers. Both are spectacular
athletes who shine on both sides of the ball, Smith for Long Beach Poly, and Lee
for nearby Serra before moving on to USC.
Smith, like Lee, is a long, lean athlete who has strength that goes beyond what one would expect from his frame. He's an instinctive player who reads the game well from his safety position and can change the game from his wide receiver position.
Like Lee, Smith is currently rated as a safety by FOX Sports Next, and like Lee, Smith could star at wide receiver on the next level. At the same stage of their careers Lee was further ahead as a defensive player who took his receiving skills to another level once he got to USC. Smith might be just a shade behind Lee athletically, but is arguably the more instinctive playmaker at the same stage.
Smith the rated 5-Stars and is the No. 1 safety prospect in the country. He helped lead his team to the Pac-5 Championship in December, and here is a look at him as he played a big part in Poly's win over Mater Dei in the championship game, and a junior highlight reel.
