Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic defensive end Connor Humphreys took an official visit to California and came home enamored with the Golden Bears.
"I loved it down there, it was the best unofficial I have taken," said Humphreys. "The coaches treated me like a part of the team."
"The facilities were amazing, the coaches wanted me to see all of them," said Humphreys. "I spent time in the new weight room."
The highlight for Humphreys was something most fans wouldn't expect.
"Probably the golf cart tour of the campus with coach Sacks," said Humphreys. "That is what stuck with me."
Coach Sacks has had success with prospects from Oregon in the past, he was a major reason the Bears were able to land 2013 signee Johnny Ragin.
"I spent the whole day with coach Sacks," said Humphreys. "He is not just my position coach, he also recruits the Northwest."
Humphreys knows he would play on the defensive line for Cal, he is just not sure exactly where.
"They kind of said it depends on how I grow," said Humphreys. "If I stay the same size then I'll play defensive end. If I add another 20lbs or so then they will move me inside to defensive tackle.
Was there any temptation or pressure to make a commitment?
"It was pretty laid back," said Humphreys. "I got a good feel of what Cal football is all about."
Humphreys plans on getting out and seeing as many schools as possible this spring.
