It's the fourth time UCLA will play in El Paso for a bowl game, having played Illinois in the 1991 John Hancock Bowl, Wisconsin in the 2000 Sun Bowl and Northwestern in the 2005 Sun Bowl.
The Bruins, 9-3, will take on an 8-4 Hokie team that is playing in its 21st consecutive bowl game, the second longest active streak in college football (Florida State has the longest with 32).
It will be the second straight bowl for UCLA under Jim Mora and the third straight bowl for the Bruins. It will also be the 10th bowl in the last 12 years for the Bruins.
Virginia Tech, from the ACC, finished second in the Coastal Division behind Duke. UCLA finished second in the Pac-12 South behind Arizona State.
The game will kickoff at 12 p.m. locally, 11 a.m. pacific time and will be televised nationally on CBS.
