There was a time that Beaumont (Tex.) Central defensive back James Locke was on a hot streak of pulling in multiple offers throughout the days and weeks. Most of this took place during the month of February.
Now it looks as though with spring football starting, the offers will pick back up…again. And with new offers, new relationships are formed.
"I'm feeling really good about the offers that I have and ones I have gotten in. I like the relationships I have with the coaches," Locke said.
The latest offers for the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Locke are Memphis, Georgia and Oklahoma State, to go along with the other 20-plus he already has in hand. After already making trips to TCU, Texas, Oklahoma, SMU, Baylor and Oklahoma State. But as stated, more activity happens for Locke on a weekly, sometime daily basis.
Of the three newest offers, Locke talked about how he is developing dialogue Georgia (assistant coach Jeremy Pruitt) and continuing talks with Oklahoma State (assistant coach Van Malone).
"Last week I talked with coach Pruitt for the first time. And in my opinion, it went very well," Locke said. "It seemed like we clicked."
Going forward, Locke may pick up even more offers. In the meantime, there are no more visits planned until the summer.
But he does have a few stops in mind that he would like to make.
"Michigan State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, LSU and Oregon. Those are some places I want to visit," Locke said.
Locke finished his junior year with 68 tackles and five pass break ups.
