Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany running back Dominic Davis (5-10, 175) thought it may take a couple of games for one of the offers he'd always wanted.

But when UCLA offered him on Thursday, Davis was floored.

"That pretty much made my summer," said Davis. "They've been in my top three even though they haven't offered. I thought I might have to play a couple of games in my senior season. It was a big surprise. I was going to go to their camp but thought I would still have to wait until the season. It's exciting."

The Bruins followed BYU, Colorado State, Fresno State, Oregon State, San Diego State and Washington State in offering the three-star.

"They offered me as a running back and slot," said Davis. "Most of my offers are as a running back or slot but I think some like me as a cornerback."

Davis spoke with head coach Jim Mora.

"Coach Angus (McClure) had been recruiting me and had come by the school a couple of times, but when he came, I wasn't there," said Davis. "I got in touch with them and the head coach himself, Coach Mora, offered me."

Davis said he plans to get to UCLA soon.

"I talked with him and he wants me to come visit with my family so I'm going to do that really soon," said Davis.

Davis said he still wants to take some time before committing anywhere.

"I was going to camp at UCLA and I still will, and I'm also going to camp at USC and I think Oregon could also be close to offering," said Davis.

This weekend, Davis will focus on track, where he's running in the California state meet in the 100m and the 400m.

He won the CIF-SS 100m for his division, has recorded a 10.5 time previously, is currently the No. 2 100m runner in California and a true contender for the state 100m title.

"The guy who won at the Master's Meet and I are just milliseconds apart so I definitely have a chance to win the state 100," said Davis. "I just have to run a good race."

Davis said he plans to continue his track career in college.

"I will most definitely do track in college," said Davis.
