Thursday was a big day for UCLA basketball, with three players being drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft.

Zach LaVine was picked 13th by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jordan Adams was picked 22nd by the Memphis Grizzlies, and Kyle Anderson was picked 30th by the San Antonio Spurs, giving UCLA its most players drafted in a single year since 2008 (when Russell Westbrook, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, and Kevin Love were drafted).

LaVine, picked 13th by the Timberwolves, had an up-and-down season for the Bruins, looking like a potential superstar to start the year, but then fading down the stretch. Still, his immense athletic ability, very good shooting stroke, and upside made him a coveted pick in the draft.

Adams was a bit of a surprise at 22. While he showed a crafty sort of scoring ability throughout his UCLA career, he didn't necessarily show the dynamic athleticism or elite skills you'd expect from the typical first rounder. With Adams, the Grizzlies will get a player who can manufacture steals and points through a variety of crafty moves.

Anderson, who was UCLA's best player last year by a wide margin, was selected by the Spurs with the 30th pick, which may turn out to be another in a long line of excellent picks for San Antonio. Anderson is a unique prospect, with a point guard's feel and passing ability in a forward's body. Not a dynamic athlete, the word was that NBA Scouts were split on his potential. He's been compared to Boris Diaw, and he'll have a chance to win Diaw's spot on the Spurs this year.
