Simmons is a 6-0, 200-pound speedster from Lakeland (Fla.) Lakeland Christian who UCLA has been recruiting aggressively for the last several months.
He chose UCLA over his other three finalists, Florida, LSU and Ohio State.
Simmons visited UCLA last week during UCLA's camp week, and that visit left such a strong impression that the much-sought running back decided to pull the trigger.
Simmons tore an ACL two years ago, which set back his recruitment some. But this spring and summer he's been incredibly impressive, having a college-ready, running back body while looking very fast. At the UCLA camp he ran a 4.41 40, while he's actually ran a 4.36 previously.
