2016 four-star linebacker Lokeni Toailoa was one of many SoCal players who made the trip over to UCLA for the 7-on-7 team camp last week. Toailoa played some offense and defense for Rialto (Calif.) Carter in the tournament, but said he wasn't completely satisfied with his performance.

"I felt like there were a lot of things I and my team could have done better," Toailoa said. "I feel like we could have done a lot better. We're not satisfied with how we did today."

The trip to UCLA was a familiar one for Toailoa, who has spent some time on campus throughout the spring, visiting for spring practice as well as taking in an unofficial. Each visits has left him impressed.

"I like UCLA a lot," Toailoa said. "I like the facilities, I like the coaching staff, I like the players. I love everything about this school."

It's early in his recruitment, but in many ways, it's shaping up to be a USC-UCLA battle for the inside linebacker.

"I've taken only two unofficials, to UCLA and USC since they're right in my backyard," Toailoa said. "It was pretty much the same, I mean, two different schools, but I got the same vibe from the coaching staff and players at both schools."

Though he's already visited both local schools, and has a host of offers in tow, Toailoa is trying to take his time with the recruiting process, and doesn't want to rush anything.

"I am taking it slow for now," Toailoa said. "I have 13 offers, and interest from other schools, but I still have a full two years ahead of me before I head off to college, so there's a lot of time to think about it."

Toailoa went on to say that he plans on waiting to make his decision until his senior season.

'I want to go through the process," Toailoa said. "I'm going to wait until after my junior season at least, and make a top list of schools and all that. I'm just in kind of wait-and-see mode, taking in offers."

Toailoa says he wants to feel comfortable with the coaching staff at whichever schools he picks, wants a good academic environment, and would like the opportunity for early playing time. As for going away from home, he's intrigued by the possibility.

"I'm open to it," Toailoa said. "I don't know yet all the schools I'll look at across the country, but I'd like to keep my options open and maybe explore the world a little bit."
