When 2015 four-star offensive tackle Kieffer Longson visited UCLA two weeks ago during the Bruins' Big Man Camp, many expected the mammoth offensive lineman to participate, as he had not yet earned a UCLA offer.

Longson didn't work out, though, citing a mild hamstring injury and his high school coach's wishes as the main reasons. Still, Longson is hoping for a UCLA offer.

"I've talked with UCLA a lot," Longson said. "It's a school I'd be really interested in, and I really like the coaching staff. I'm just going to see over the next few weeks whether an offer comes down."

Longson, a Mormon, plans to take his mission immediately after high school, and UCLA's track record of accommodating LDS athletes has been a key point in boosting the Bruins in Longson's mind.

"Just the way they've dealt with guys like Xavier Su'a-Filo has been really cool," Longson said. "Everyone I've talked to at UCLA, or who has dealt with UCLA, has good things to say about how they deal with LDS athletes. We've talked about the mission before, and they seem really cool with it."

In addition to visiting UCLA, Longson also visited USC, where he did participate in the Trojans' camp. USC has also yet to offer, but Longson is equally high on the Trojans.

"USC was great," Longson said. "It was great competition over there. They said they're supposed to call soon."

With his religious background carrying a great deal of weight in his recruitment, Longson is also taking a long look at both BYU and Utah.

"It's a huge influence," Longson said of potentially attending one of the Utah-based schools, "But as the same time, UCLA and USC would be good options. All of them are good schools."

Longson, who also visited Ohio State and Michigan last week, plans to release a top ten soon, with UCLA, USC, BYU, Utah, and Ohio State all likely making the cut.

"I want to make my decision after I take my official visits," Longson said. "If I really like a school, I could always decide by the end of the summer, but right now I want to take my officials first."
