Neves Camps at UCLA
"It's been a crazy spring for me," Neves explained. "Utah offered me about a month ago, and that was pretty big for me and my family. My dad played there and we all just moved out here, so that is a big first offer. From there, Hawaii offered me after watching me throw at the All-Poly Camp out here. After that, I started getting invites to camps all over the place. Me and my family decided to check out a few Pac-12 schools and see what they had to offer."
"We started our week off at the U. I really loved Utah. The coaching staff is full of really good people. The tour of their new facility was awesome, and I really felt good about Utah."
"After that, we headed out to SoCal to check out UCLA and USC. UCLA was awesome. I participated in their camp. I thought the coaching staff was great. I don't know if you will find better coaching anywhere. I also camped with the Trojans. That was a great experience, the coaching staff and program is in itself amazing. I ended up winning the MVP of the camp which was unbelievable. I think there were about 40 quarterbacks there. To come out of there with the MVP award was amazing, I am really grateful for that opportunity."
"After California, we headed out to Colorado for a camp as well. That was a great learning experience. I spent a lot of one on one time with their offensive coordinator, Coach Lindgren (Brian). He is a really good coach, and I took a lot away from working with him."
Neves' summer plans may include a trip down to SEC country to check out a few schools. Alabama recently extended an invite to their camp coming up in mid-July. But, Neves is primarily interested in staying out West and playing in the Pac-12.
"I really don't have any favorites at this point, I am open to everyone," Neves claimed. "I just want to play football, I love this game, and playing D1 ball is my dream. I do think the Pac-12 is a great fit for me. I love the West Coast, and I want to play in front of my family as much as possible. With that being said, the SEC is certainly a draw for me."
At 6-4 1/2 238 pounds, Neves looks like he could be an NFL QB. He has all the tools to be special down the road.
"I am blessed to have an opportunity to play football at the next level, but I know I have a lot to get better at," Neves explained. "I need to work on every aspect of my game. My foot work, my progressions, reading defenses, and so much more. I know that I am not ready for college. Fortunately, I am young and have a long road a head of me. I am excited about the process, I feel like I am at a great program to get better."
Neves is approaching his recruiting with a good mindset and plans to take the process slowly. He has aspirations to play the game like Colin Kaepernick. While Neves is already bigger than Kaepernick, that 4.53 40 yard dash is still a work in progress.
