Davis Planning Visit to UCLA
Davis had a great showing at the Edison tournament playing running back, in the slot and corner. His first two steps are so explosive and he's at full speed after just a few strides. He has great hands, a very strong lower body and plenty of room to fill out in his upper body.
On the recruiting front, Davis' last two offers were from the local schools, UCLA and USC.
"It meant a lot to get those two offers," Davis said. "With UCLA, they have had a lot of recent success and I like the athletes they're bringing in to the program. I was a fan of Jonathan Franklin when he was there. He was a running back that wasn't too big but had good speed so I saw him doing his thing and thought I could have that same success too.
"Coach Mora seems like a great guy and he told me they want me as a running back/slot receiver combo. He said they need a guy with speed that they can get in to space and do some things. I've never been to UCLA so I'm going to go up there soon, in the next few weeks with my mom and two brothers and check the place out."
Davis landed his offer from USC following the Rising Stars Camp.
"USC wasn't really recruiting me that hard but kept telling me I needed to come up for their camp," Davis said. "They said to come up and it would be worth it. I wasn't sure how interested they were but they showed me a lot of attention at the camp and then when it was over, Sark pulled me a side and offered a scholarship.
"I was real excited, I wanted to work hard and get the offer and that's what happened. USC is recruiting me as a running back. When I met with Sark in his office, he said a smaller, quicker back fits his offense better than a big back. He told me they didn't take a back last year so I would be able to come in and play right away. He said I complement the offense really well and that was great to hear. I'm going to visit USC with my mom during this dead period as well. We have three weeks off so I'm going to go check it out."
Davis said he has no plans to make an early commitment and wants to take a few official visits first.
"I definitely want to get to Washington State and Washington," Davis said. "Washington State was my 2nd Pac 12 offer and they're showing me a lot of love. I like their offense and they want me as a slot receiver. They want me to catch a ton of balls there and feel I could do some damage if they get me in space.
"I camped at Washington when they came out here and got to know Coach Peterson, Coach B (Bhonapha) and the whole staff really well. I love that staff, they have a bunch of great guys and I really enjoyed working with them. Right now, I just want to play out the process and I'm not leaning anywhere. Location isn't that big of a factor. I just want to find a place where I'll be comfortable and where my mom is comfortable with the staff and knows I'll be taken care of."
