Croom Excited for Fresh Start

Micah Croom

Former LB Poly (Calif.) '16 defensive back Micah Croom was expected to play a key role in the secondary for the Jackrabbits over the next two years but the athlete recently transferred in to Anaheim (Calif.) Servite...

Micah Croom, whose older brother Larry played for Poly back in the late 90s before playing his college ball at Arizona and UNLV, is a promising safety prospect with a nice upside. He has a nice frame at about 6-1, 190 pounds, runs well and had several solid showings during the spring 7v7 circuit playing for Team FCA.

"I'll always be a Jackrabbit but I just felt like this was the best move for me," Croom said. "Academically, I thought Servite would open some more doors for me and I'm comfortable with the coaching staff and already know a lot of players on the team.

"I know EQ (Equanimeous St. Brown), Maurice Davison and Travis Waller and they have a great group of guys. I wanted a fresh start and I think it's a great all around fit for me. It was tough saying good bye to the guys at Poly and I'll always root for them but I had to do what I thought was best for me."

On the recruiting front, Croom landed an early offer from Utah before his sophomore season and is hearing from a few other schools as well.

"I did camps at UCLA and Washington State (Cathedral H.S)," Croom said. "The UCLA camp went well and I have a good relationship with Coach Meat (Martin) over there. I thought I did well, got some great feedback and they're going to continue to watch me.

"With Washington State, I'm building a strong relationship with them and especially Coach Reinert. I had a great time at the camp and looking forward to watching them play this season. Oregon, Oregon State and Notre Dame have all been sending me a lot of mail as well. I'll be going to games this year at UCLA and USC too and I'm excited for the season to get here. I have a lot to prove, especially being at a new school but I'm ready to get going."
