Marshall Talks Official Visits

Iman Marshall

AUG. 21 -- 2015 five-star Long Beach (Calif.) Poly cornerback Iman Marshall will take all of his official visits out of state, and plans unofficial visits for UCLA, USC, and Stanford...

Iman Marshall is the top corner out West and the No. 11 overall player in the country. He's one of the most physical defensive backs to come out of the West in some time and has all the physical tools and more importantly the mental makeup to step in and play immediately at the next level.

Thursday morning, Marshall released the schools he'll take his official visits to with a little twist. The four locked in are Florida State, LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame. The last one will be between Oklahoma and Texas.

"I just could't decide between those two," Marshall said. "Oklahoma has an established brand and Coach Stoops has done a great job. With Texas, Coach Strong has only been there for a short time so my dad and I just want to see how he builds up the program and the direction things are going.

"I thought it would be fun to get the fans involved too. Both have very passionate fan bases and love their school so I want to see who supports me the most and really wants me and then just go from there."

As for his first four schools, Marshall commented on what he likes about each of them.

Florida State- "They're national champions and have a great track record of developing players. They have a great secondary and could get three players drafted this coming year. I really like Coach Fisher a lot, he's a proven winner and has shown he knows how to get his players to the next level and that's big for me."

LSU- "That's DBU, they have a great tradition of producing big time defensive backs. The SEC is a great conference and game in and game out, you're competing against the very best. I like Coach Miles a lot and just like with Coach Fisher, he has shown he knows how to get his players to the League."

Michigan- "They have an incredible legacy and tradition both football wise and academically. I've always liked Michigan and what they stand for. I'm also friends with one of their players, Freddy Canteen. We've worked out tougher in the past and I know he loves it there. Plus the idea of playing next to Jabrill Peppers would be something special."

Notre Dame- "Just like with Michigan, I really love and respect their tradition in football as well as academically. That's a big time degree and that's important to me and when you think of the history of Notre Dame, I knew I had to check them out. Coach Kelly is one of the best coaches in America and I love the schedule they play every year as well."

Closer to home, Marshall has high interest in both local schools, UCLA and USC along with Stanford and plans to visit all three multiple times.

"USC and UCLA are just down the street so we can visit there whenever we want," Marshall said. "I'm definitely going to visit Stanford as well. I want to get up there for a game and do the whole campus tour. All of these trips will be during the season, I want to see the game atmosphere and see what it's really like there.

"I haven't locked in dates yet but we're close. We have a good idea when they'll be but just want to make sure it doesn't conflict with anything else I have going on. After the visits are done, my dad and I will sit back and make a decision but I won't be announcing anything until Signing Day. I've said that from day one, I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing so I want to take as much time as I can before I commit somewhere."
