SEP. 1 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week zero of the high school football season...

Game of the Week:Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Anaheim (Calif.) Servite, 48-27
UCLA commit Alize Jones made more of an impact on defense than from his tight end position, before being knocked out of the game with a knee injury. UCLA target Cordell Broadus had five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown and Scout 2017 four-star Tyjon Lindsey had four catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Fellow 2017 four-star, quarterback Tate Martell, a Washington commit, came off the bench to throw for 133 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 114 yards. UCLA recruit Equanimeous St. Brown had 85 yards receiving, and a 49-yard touchdown while his brother, 2017 four-star Osiris St. Brown, had 141 yards receiving.

Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou def. Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis, 55-7
With UCLA offensive line target Semisi Uluave cleared to be in the lineup, the Punahou offense went on a tear, compiling 637 yards in total offense, including 201 of those on the ground. UCLA commit Fred Ulu-Perry and his St. Louis squad was overmatched, though they did stop the Punahou offense the first two series before the Buffanblu went on a tear.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw, 55-14
In the debut of Antonio Pierce as Poly's head coach, the Jackrabbits crushed Crenshaw, thanks to a monster defensive game from UCLA recruit Joseph Wicker. The four-star had three of his 5.5 sacks in the third quarter. UCLA recruit Iman Marshall had a sack, forced fumble and grabbed a touchdown reception in the rout.

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North def. Sparks (Nev.) Reed, 19-16
Still not quite 100% after suffering from some knee pain, UCLA commit Bolu Olorunfunmi still ran for 130 yards on 14 carries in a sweltering heat, helping the Broncos top Reed in the Honor Bowl. Olorunfunmi got going late in the game, when the Broncos were trying to run clock, carrying four-straight times for critical first downs to put the game away for the Broncos.

Santa Margarita (Calif.) def. La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat, 26-21
Led by a big night on defense by UCLA commit Rick Wade, the Eagles outlasted the Lancers, topping them 26-21. Wade had 13 tackles and a sack and 2016 quarterback target K.J. Costello had 308 yards passing and two touchdowns. Kyle Sweet, younger brother of UCLA receiver Logan Sweet, had an interception.

Upland (Calif.) def. Palmdale (Calif.) Knight, 71-0
UCLA linebacker commit Josh Woods had 10 tackles, three for loss, and forced a fumble to help the Highlanders shutout Knight. It was the first game Woods had played since the end of the 2012 season. UCLA 2017 recruit Nathan Tilford had 129 yards on eight carries and a touchdown in the blowout.

Chino Hills (Calif.) def. Newhall (Calif.) Hart, 63-48
UCLA receiver recruit Trent Irwin had 10 catches for 238 yards and a touchdown before being knocked out with a shoulder injury. Teammate Brady White, an Arizona State commit, threw for 537 yards.

Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde def. Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill, 37-34
UCLA offensive line commit Tevita Halalilo helped the Mustangs offense rack up nearly 500 yards in offense, and mount a game-winning drive that culminated in a 27-yard field goal with three seconds left for the three-point win. Florida commit Sheriron Jones had 246 yards passing and 142 yards rushing in the win.

Manvel (Texas) def. Houston Westfield, 35-10
UCLA verbal William Lockett had a big game in the opening win of the season, with five tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery against a loaded Westfield squad.

Others
DeSoto (Texas) and defensive tackle commit Bryce English defeated Arlington (Texas) Martin, 55-30. Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy and UCLA commit Victor Alexander had a bye. Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco quarterback Josh Rosen and the Braves had a bye. Lakeland (Fla.) Christian running back T.J. Simmons is out for the season with a broken leg but his team won 41-0 over Winter Garden (Fla.) Foundation Academy. Lodi (Calif.) Tokay receiver L.J. Reed is still out after transferring from Cosumnes Oaks, but Tokay beat Hercules (Calif.) 22-0. San Leandro (Calif.) athlete Stephen Johnson was out for the season opening 30-12 loss against Pleasanton (Calif.) Foothill with a broken foot. Herriman (Utah) and UCLA offensive line commit Andre James ran into a buzzsaw in state power Bingham, dropping their first game of the season, 31-7.
