The #6 offensive line prospect in the country, 6-6 Thomas Herring from Los Angeles Fremont, has a list of five favorite schools, with two more still hanging in there...

It’s been much of the same for Los Angeles (Calif.) Fremont line prospect Thomas Herring (6-6, 285). With 17 scholarship offers to date, Herring has a solid top five, with a pair of schools who are just behind them.

“My top five are Miami, Oklahoma, USC, LSU and Michigan. Washington and UCLA are kind of right there too,” said Herring, the No. 6 offensive line prospect in the country by The Insiders.com.

Herring has attended most of UCLA’s home games, being a former teammate of freshman defensive back Mil’von James, and that’s who he has spent most of his time with after the games.

“I was at the ASU game and hung with Mil’von after the game. UCLA’s cool,” said Herring.

He has already taken one official visit, to Michigan, the weekend the Wolverines blew out Illinois. “It was great. The fans were real cool, and the stadium was awesome. The whole trip was real wild. I had a good time,” said Herring.

Michigan, Oklahoma and Miami are all recruiting him as a defensive end, though many project him to be an offensive lineman. “I’m getting recruited mostly as a defensive end or tight end, but if it could be a good career move, I would move to offensive tackle,” said Herring.

With all the attention, Herring is getting a little tired of it, but not too much. “Yeah, I’m getting a little tired of it all, but I am still enjoying it. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity so you have to cherish every moment of it.” Herring was invited to play in both the CaliFlorida Bowl and the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, but is sticking with local pride and playing in CaliFlorida.

He plans to take all his five trips then decide.
