Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch athlete Charles Brown (6-5, 250), finally got to complete his official recruiting visit to UCLA, nearly a month after starting it.

Brown had to cut his official trip in December short because of a sudden health scare to his mother. He returned to Westwood this past weekend after the NCAA granted him 20 more hours of official visit time to UCLA.

"It was a good trip," Brown said. " It was a little different this time because there were less guys there so we got more attention."

Brown was hosted by Maurice Drew and Marcedes Lewis this time. "They were my hosts both times, actually. They are real cool guys."

A soft verbal to USC, Brown said he will make his ultimate decision on Sunday, between the Bruins and the Trojans. "They are neck and neck right now," said Brown.

Both schools want to bring him in as a tight end. He also officially visited Oregon, but has eliminated the Ducks in favor of the local schools.

While visiting UCLA this past weekend, Brown said he got more one-on-one time with tight ends coach Jon Embree and Head coach Karl Dorrell. "They said if I did well at (fall) camp, I can play right away. I'm definitely playing tight end. Coach Embree and Coach Dorrell are real good guys. They are real honest with me. I like them both a lot."

One of Brown's best friends is UCLA quarterback commit and fellow Pomona native Osaar Rasshan. Brown's known Rasshan since junior high. "I just talked with Osaar the other day. He's trying to get me to come there with him. He's solid on UCLA," said Brown.

Brown said he was invited and set to play in the CaliFlorida Bowl, but his mom's illness prevented him from going down there. "Staying home was worth it, for my mom," said Brown. "I may play in the California-Texas game at the Rose Bowl though."

In regard to his mom's health, Brown said she is feeling much better and improving every day.

Academically, Brown is fully qualified.
