The mammoth lineman from the national powerhouse Evangel Christian program has two offers, from Michigan and Louisiana-Lafayette. In addition, Stroud is hearing from Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma State, LSU, Texas Tech and UCLA.
"I'd say my top two right now are Michigan and Nebraska," said Stroud. "I like UCLA a lot too. Coach (Eric) Bieniemy has been really active in recruiting me. He gave me my first handwritten letter and has sent me several of them. I like how he talks and what he has to say. It's kind of far to take an unofficial visit, so I will try and take an official visit there."
Currently, Stroud is on the road doing a Midwest swing of unofficial trips. "We're going to see Oklahoma State, Michigan, Nebraska and Notre Dame. I want to look at the campuses and weed out the schools I don't really like. I want to be able to meet some coaches and some players," said Stroud.
The offense at Evangel Christian is a heavy passing offense, one of the primary reasons why Stroud is looking at Texas Tech. "They run an offense really similar to ours at Evangel. I want to go somewhere where I can pass block a lot," said Stroud.
Stroud said in-state LSU has shown just minimal interest, and that his own interest in LSU isn't currently high, but that could change. "When I met Coach (Les) Miles, I wasn't really allowed to talk to him, but I think I might look at them a little more," said Stroud.
Stroud said he wouldn't be making an early decision. "I'm going to wait till I've gotten more offers. The schools that have offered me now, it's going to mean a lot, though. But I plan to take all of my trips, then decide," Stroud said.
Academically, Stroud has a 3.5 GPA.
