UCLA's prize basketball recruit, McDonald's All-American Evan Burns, has achieved a qualifying SAT score...

McDonald's All-American Evan Burns, 6-7 SR SF, Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax, who has verbally committed to UCLA, has achieved a qualifying SAT score.

This means that Burns has a very good chance of qualifying by NCAA standards, only needing a corresponding GPA to do so. The minimum SAT accepted by the NCAA is an 820, which demands a 2.5 core GPA to qualify. It's believed that UCLA would accept Burns if he qualifies by NCAA standards.

Reportedly, Burns had a 2.2 GPA before his senior year, but his grades were good in his first semester.

If Burns qualifies academically, the general sentiment is that it would compel him to go to college rather than jumping to the NBA.

Sources indicate Burns intends to sign a National Letter of Intent with UCLA during the spring signing period, which begins Wednesday, April 10th, and concludes May 15th.
