Is D-Tackle Close to a Decision?

Jerzy Siewierski

The defensive line target from Nevada, 6-3, 300-pound Jerzy Siewierski, talks about his unofficial visit to UCLA last week to watch practice, and says he's getting closer to making a decision...

Sparks (Nev.) Reed defensive tackle Jerzy Siewierski (6-2 1/2, 300), one of UCLA's top defensive line targets, has 14 scholarship offers to date, and the big tackle took an unofficial to UCLA last week.

"It went great. I got a chance to watch them practice and meet all of the coaches. Coach (Thurmond) Moore let me watch them up close and then I got to meet some of the players like Kevin Brown and Brigham Harwell. They all get along real great and Coach Moore is a great guy and great coach," said Siewierski. "The campus was cool and the facilities were nice."

Siewierski said he had generally narrowed down his list of top schools to three, with a fourth still holding on. "My top three are UCLA, Boise State and Oklahoma State," said Siewierski. "Wisconsin is still there somewhat, but it's really down to those three."

Siewierski did say that one school, though, could get into the mix if they offered. "I'm from the Bay Area so if California offered they would be a school I would seriously consider. I went to their camp and took an unofficial visit there and I was one of the MVPs of the camp," Siewierski said.

Siewierski said he would ideally like to make a commitment in the coming weeks, before he gets too far into his senior season. "I need to focus on my team and be a leader and cannot let recruiting be a distraction," said Siewierski.

Sparks began its season workouts last week, and typically does their two-a-days in the evening. "We don't get done until like 10 p.m. so I'm pretty tired, but it's great to be back out there and hitting guys again. I can't wait until the games start," Siewierski said.

During his junior year, Siewierski had 80 tackles, four sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, one pass deflection and one blocked kick.

Academically, Siewierski is solid with a 3.1 GPA and a 20 on the ACT.

Sparks kicks off its season on August 28th. Recommended Stories
