From UCLA:

UCLA junior place kicker Justin Medlock has been suspended from the football program indefinitely, head coach Karl Dorrell announced today. Medlock will not participate in the Sun Bowl or any of the activities, including practice, leading up to the bowl game.

The suspension is due to his arrest in connection with a car accident early Saturday morning.

"I have met with Justin and informed him of my decision," said Dorrell. "He understands the high standards with which we expect our players to represent the program and has always met those standards. Justin apologized to me and wanted me to express his apologies to his teammates. He made a mistake and he understands that there are penalties when a player violates our rules.

"Justin will remain suspended until we have all of the information regarding his situation. We will also monitor the legal proceedings before making any further determination of his status."

Hannah Jun, a member of the women's golf team, was a passenger in Medlock's car during the accident. Federal HIPAA laws prohibit the Athletic Department from discussing her medical condition. However, she does not require surgery and the current prognosis is that she will make a full recovery.
