UCLA's Official Release:

UCLA senior place kicker Justin Medlock has been reinstated to the football program, head coach Karl Dorrell announced today.

Medlock was suspended indefinitely on December 11 due to his arrest in connection with a car accident early the morning of Dec. 10. He did not participate in the Dec. 30 Vitalis Sun Bowl or any of its related activities and has not participated in any team functions or workouts, including Spring Practice, since that time. He did continue to attend classes.

Earlier today (Monday), Medlock's legal situation was finalized when he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in injury. His sentence includes performing community service. "Justin is a good young man who made a very serious mistake," said Dorrell. "Now that the legal proceedings have been finalized, I feel that missing the Sun Bowl and being suspended for four months is sufficient punishment, in addition to what the court is requiring him to do.

"I know that he is very sorry for any pain or embarrassment the accident caused to anyone involved."
