, the 6-9 center from Serbia Montenegro, didn't achieve an SAT score that was adequate to pass UCLA admissions when he took the test in early May, according to sources.
Spica will take the test again tomorrow. It will be Spica's last chance to achieve a test score that will be accepted by UCLA admissions.
We've also heard that the other European that UCLA is recruiting, the skilled 6-7 forward, will also take the SAT tomorrow.
Spica, of course, has signed a National Letter of Intent. The other European, if he achieved a passing SAT score and UCLA decided to offer him a scholarship, would not sign a National Letter of Intent, since the signing period has expired. The player would have to sign a Schplarship Agreement with the UCLA, which binds UCLA to a scholarship for the player, but does not bind the player to the school.
If either achieves a good enough SAT score, of course, they would be eligible for UCLA in the fall.
Josh Shipp, the sophomore wing, who sat out almost all of last season recovering from a hip injury, was cleared to play fully this week.
Shipp has been practicing with the team since near the end of the season, and has participated in the spring workouts. Shipp is still not in the physical shape he was last summer when he looked a different player, with a considerably improved athleticism from his freshman year, but now it's thought it's just a matter of time for Shipp to re-gain that physical condition.
It's been learned that it's now uncertain whether Jordan Farmar will participate in the NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Orlando, which starts next Tuesday, June 6th, and goes through Saturday, June 10th. He'll definitely attend the camp to take the physical, but sources have indicated he'll only participate if he doesn't have a first-round guarantee from an NBA team at that time.
In the workouts, Darren Collison is getting rave reviews, having improved his overall game and point guard approach, while also having gained 15 pounds, now being up around 160 pounds.
