UCLA Visits Singler and Love

UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland and assistant Kerry Keating were in the state of Oregon over the weekend.

They had in-home visits with Kevin Love, the 6-9 center from Lake Oswego (Ore.) High, the current #3 player in the nation who is verbally committed to UCLA, and Kyle Singler, the 6-8 forward from Medford (Ore.) South Medford, the #4 player in the nation.

The big objective of the coaches meeting with Singler was to get the talented player to arrange an official visit to UCLA. To our knowledge, that wasn’t finalized, but there are sources close to the Singler recruitment that indicate UCLA, after this weekend’s in-home visit, is looking good for an official visit.

Singler already plans to officially visit Arizona this coming weekend, Duke the following weekend (Sept. 23), and Kansas the weekend of Oct. 14th. UCLA is shooting to have Singler visit Oct. 7th, the weekend of a home football game against Arizona, with the students back in school. It’s believed that Love will also visit on that weekend, which is significant, since Love and Singler are friends and Love could assist in the recruitment of Singler during the visit.

If UCLA doesn’t get Singler to visit Westwood officially, it would be virtually impossible to believe UCLA would be able to get him.

There are no new developments in the recruitment of Derrick Rose, the 6-2 point guard from Chicago (Ill.) Simeon. Even though the #6-ranked player in the nation has indicated he will visit UCLA officially, no serious plans have yet been made for the visit.
