Robert Killebrew, 6-1, 210, 4.5, Klein (Tex.) High, who has held steady to the same five schools for some time, had said that he did not want to get involved with recruiting until after his season at Klein came to end. Well, his season is over, and he is starting to focus on choosing a school.
“Now that my season is over I want to start getting the ball rolling with trips,” he said. His top five of UCLA, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas and Miami have remained the same for some time, but he played it pretty close to the vest about when he would trip to each school. When asked if he was taking a trip this weekend, Killebrew said, “Maybe.” When asked if it might be a trip to UCLA for the UCLA/USC game, Killebrew said, “I might, but nothing is in stone.”
From his first interview in spring, UCLA has remained one school he is strongly considering, due quite a bit to the many ties Killebrew has in the Los Angeles area. The family moved from California to Texas when Killebrew was eight. His father followed UCLA football while they lived in California. In fact, Killebrew spent a good part of the summer visiting those ties. “But I also want to visit Texas, Oklahoma and Florida. I like Miami too, and if they offered a visit I would take the trip there.”
The recruiting coaches at all the schools are doing their best to keep in touch and stay on top with Killebrew. But he is really non-committal about naming a leader. “I like them all, and they are calling me regularly. I have to say that they are all even right now.
Killebrew finished his senior year with 17 sacks while playing defensive end this season. He is projected to play linebacker in college.
He is fully qualified.
