Head Coach Rick Neuheisel updates us on the recently injured, the cast/club of offensive lineman Micah Kia, how the offense fared Wednesday, and the plan for the rest of the week leading up to the Tennessee game Monday...

What once looked like a deep pool of passers is now down to three quarterbacks, with freshman Nick Crissman arriving at practice today in a sling. There was an MRI done on his shoulder with results pending. For Tennessee, UCLA is down to Kevin Craft, Chris Forcier and Kevin Prince.

Kai Maiava's MRI was still pending but feeling is it's an MCL injury on his knee and not an ACL.

Micah Kia worked with the 1s for a second straight day, and did it with a smaller wrap on his broken hand. Whether it's correlational or not is uncertain, but the starting OL had perhaps its best day in a while Wednesday, perhaps allowing the least amount of pressure on the quarterbacks today than in any practice this fall. Second-string Chris Forcier had a pretty good day, having a sequence in an 11-on-11 scrimmage where he executed well. Forcier also scrambled on one play and jetted up through a huge hole in the middle of the defense for a 40-yard touchdown scamper.

Starter Kevin Craft had moments but struggled some also, throwing at least four interceptions over the entire practice. On one rep, Head Coach Rick Neuheisel threw his hat down in anger when Craft held the ball too long for a sack.

Wide receiver returned to practice after sitting out Tuesday to rest a sore knee.

Receivers Taylor Embree and Terrence Austin are still wearing the red, no-hit jerseys.

The scout team offense made some plays on the first-string defense. Johnathan Franklin broke off a big run, and then Jerry Johnson caught a touchdown pass, which had the scout team offense celebrating.

Wide receiver coach Reggie Moore also threw his hat to the turn when receiver Nelson Rosario dropped a very well-thrown ball from Forcier on a go route.

The first-string offense went up against the third-string defense and couldn't sustain a drive, at least without the help of the coaching staff, allowing the offense to replay third down. Craft threw three incomplete passes in a row during the sequence, before he threw a nice completion to Embree who was streaking down the sideline.
