Shaquelle Evans, the wide receiver who would have been a sophomore at Notre Dame, intends to transfer to UCLA, according to sources.
Evans, a 6-1, 205-pound speedster originally from Inglewood (Calif.) High, received his release from Notre Dame last week.
We have heard that UCLA has contacted Evans, and that he has indicated to UCLA he wants to transfer to Westwood.
Evans was the #1-ranked wide receiver in the west for 2009. Out of high school he was thought to have a great combination of size and excellent speed.
He first verbally committed to USC, and then decided on Notre Dame.
As a true freshman last season at Notre Dame, he had 7 receptions for 61 yards in limiting action.
Reportedly, a desire to return to the west coast was his primary motivation for leaving Notre Dame.
