Head Coach Karl Dorrell answers questions from the media after Tuesday's practice, talking about the position moves of two defensive players to the offensive backfield, the recently injured, including Patrick Cowan, and more...

The big news, as we reported on the message board during practice, was the move of Christian Ramirez, the sophomore safety, to tailback.

Senior linebacker Fred Holmes also made the move to fullback.

Both positions – tailback and fullback – have been hit by injuries and are getting thin, thus precipitating the move.

With Michael Pitre not practicing and Trevor Therior sidelined, Dylan Rush has been getting the reps with the 1s at fullback.

Defensive end Bruce Davis was in a red, no-hit jersey because of general soreness. Senior receiver Joe Cowan also sat out some reps because of soreness.

Patrick Cowan was on crutches with his strained hamstring. Walk-on quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson got the second-team reps at quarterback. Unless Cowan makes a pretty miraculous recovery from the hamstring injury, Bethel-Thompson could very well be the #2 quarterback for the season opener at Stanford.

Receiver Osaar Rasshan sat out practice with more concussive symptoms. He originally had them last week, then returned for practice, including the scrimmage, but today sat out again. It’s uncertain if the symptoms re-occurred because of a new incident or not.

Chinoso Anyanwu, the defensive end, didn’t practice with an ankle sprain.

Brigham Harwell, the defensive tackle, after getting a thigh contusion yesterday, was in a red, no-hit jersey this morning.

Offensive guard Shannon Tevaga participated mostly in non-contact drills due to his wrist, but he’s supposed very close to be ready to practice fully.

Walk-on fullback Trevor Theriot and walk-on tailback Ben Bruneau didn’t participate in much of practice, mostly running on the sideline.

The defensive line was blowing by the offensive line in much of the 11-on-11s today, with plenty of pressure on the running backs and quarterbacks, creating hurries, fumbles and sacks.

Receiver Gavin Ketchum had a good day, catching a few nice balls, and has generally had a strong practice. Reliable Marcus Everett has uncharacteristically dropped balls this fall.

Both Terrence Austin and Dominique Johnson dropped balls they should have caught. Head Coach Karl Dorrell harped on Johnson for it.

Safety coach Gary DeLoach was particularly prickly and vocal today.

A Scout.com reader also said that this K-lite codec pack, the full version, solved all of his video problems: K-lite Codec.
Also, some subscribers have downloaded Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 2 to replace Service Pack 1 and that enabled them to watch Scout.com video content.
If you’re a Mac User, you have two options:
1) If you are running OS X, have the new Flip4Mac plug-in installed, and have Windows Media Player 9 for OS X installed, you must do the following: Open System Preferences, click on the Flip4Mac green icon down in the "Other" section of System Preferences, click on the "Plug In" tab and UNCHECK the "Use Flip4Mac WMV Internet plug in". Close Safari if it is open. Launch Safari again and try the video again. It should fail with a "Safari can't display content on this page" error offering to try to view it with WMP for OS X. Click OK and WMP should launch and successfully play the video.

2) Scout has now added a link to the Media Player popup window that will only display to Mac users. It will enable Mac users to download the video to their hard drives. It will say: "Click here to watch Video" above the existing "Close this window" link. Mac users that have been having video trouble can now click the link and play the video. Your computer might prompt you after you click the link to watch the video, finding the program it needs to play the video on your computer.
