| Football and track star Andrew Johnson transferred from Central Catholic to North Hills High School. After a junior season in which he was hampered with injuries, he rebounded with a strong senior season with 1,276 yards on 220 rushing attempts with 21 touchdowns. Over his high school career, Johnson had 3,670 career yards. Andrew was offered by Pitt and Iowa before his junior season. He attended the Miami Hurricane football camp before his junior season and was selected as the top running back at the camp. Andrew missed 3 games as a sophomore and still ran for 1,700 yards and had a 9.7 yards per carry average.
Johnson was selected by Street and Smith Magazine to its "50 Juniors to Watch" list. He won the WPIAL and PIAA 100-meter Championships and has run the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds. Andrew was selected to the Sporting News/Student Sports Top 100 Juniors in America list. After his senior season, he was named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22" list.
